E3 2018/19

EVENT COVERAGE | TEAM LEAD

E3 was the world’s premier event for computer and video games held each summer in Los Angeles. In 2018 & 2019, I led the GameStop Northern Europe Social Team on-site to do a wide range of event coverage for our Social Media channels.

As lead for the event, it was my job to liaise with vendors in the months leading up to E3 to book interviews and activity. I had to plan a meticulous daily schedule to make sure our days were packed with potential content, and our limited time used efficiently.

Instagram Coverage

One of our main focuses was to engage with our customers from a personal level, and show the events over the week from our eyes – fans of gaming. With so much activity packed into each day, there was a huge amount of updates to be posted to Social Media, and Instagram provided the perfect platform for us to engage with our audience with up to date content.

It was important to keep the activity flowing throughout each day and from our significant coverage, we seen our views, engagement and following increase massively.

Interviews

Being on site meant having access to interviews with developers to talk about their upcoming games. I prepared questions beforehand, and edited all the content afterwards.

It was important to get these videos turned around and uploaded to YouTube quickly to increase viewership, so this meant very tight deadlines. I was delighted that we managed same day turnaround on all our video content, and as a result, seen a fantastic response.

Trade Promotion

E3 was a week in the year when all gamer’s eyes were on future releases. With this in mind, GameStop ran a trade promotion for the week to entice customers to pre-order with bigger savings if they got ahead of the game.

I created the artwork for this promotion and intertwined it with our activity in Los Angeles. As games got announced or previewed, we promoted the trade offer to strike while the iron’s hot.
